Just letting you know.
>>59223I think that energybending was planned all along, and personally I don't find to be such a bad idea. It was, like you said, just paced wrong. They should have brought it up, or hinted at it, earlier in the show.
>>59100Ahaha, Katoph was canon! Suck it, Zootards!>>59158Wow. I'm REALLY glad so much of this was changed. That would have been a bad ending indeed. In fact, just about all of the draft for season 3 is unpleasant. It's like the characters hardly bonded at all. The whole "incorrect firebending" is interesting, but really would have bugged me. And the show would not be the same without awesome fatherly mentor Iroh. I like how Spiritbending was planned from the beginning, though. That should shut up some whiners who said it was Deus Ex Machina.>>59226LIONTURTLES EVERYWHERE. No really, even in the pilot. If Spiritbending itself was hinted at, that would ruin the surprise.
>>59242 I don't think this version of season 3 would've been as lame as it sounds. It was just a summary, I'm sure more things would've happened. But I'm still glad they didn't stick with this
>>59223>I was really surprised that energybending was always in the plan. Didn't that seem like something they just tossed in at the last minute? Maybe it was just a pacing problem. I think Mike and Bryan once implied they had much more planned for Energybending and the Time before the Avatar. Problem is that to do that stuff justice, they would've required a lot more episodes.Explaining stuff about it in the show would've been contraproducive to the overall story they wanted to tell. Expanding on it after it was introduced would've solved all those problems.I think that would've been the specials, except Nick gave them the axe long before the episodes aired, and they already were on a tight schedule.>>59244>I don't think this version of season 3 would've been as lame as it sounds.Seconded. There's several stuff that would've played wonderfully with propper wrting and development. Still, glad they changed some stuff. Its intresting that the skeleton of the season is still pretty much the same.
>>59158Kind of interesting to see how many of these ideas did make it into the finished product, albeit in different form and sequence.
>>59158Forgot to add:>For weeks, they move through the country, hiding in caves and seeking refuge in villages.Hiding in cave... after cave... after cave... after cave...
>>59245Specials? What do you mean?
>in order to bring Toph's huge ego down to size.needed this is the show so fucking hard.
>>59276Well, she was underused in the last season. Its not an optimal solution to the problem, but its something.
>>59281well she was overused in season 2 so in regards to the entire thing I guess it balances itself out.
>the Prince learns that his former teacher was under his father's orders to teach him incorrect Firebending.Pay no attention to Wimp Lo, we purposely trained him wrong... as a joke.
>>59286>Pay no attention to Wimp Lo, we purposely trained him wrong... as a joke.Such a tragically under-appreciated movie.
>>59287>Killing is wrong. And bad. There should be a new, stronger word for killing. Like badwrong, or badong. Yes. Killing is badong. From now on, I will stand for the opposite of killing. Gnodab. If only Zuko said that to Ozai...
>>59245 Those "specials" were just false rumors. I remember Mike and Bryan saying they didn't even know anything about them when asked.
>Didn't that seem like something they just tossed in at the last minute? To me, it did not.
>>59289No they weren't. There was a flyer with plans for the Avatar franchise. One of the things listed was a few hour-ling specials. Since then its safe to assume that plans for that have been cancled, alongside Nick Magazine.
>>59282She was hardly overused. She came into the show in episode 7, and aside from training Aang didn't do all that much. She tried (and mostly failed) to slow the drill, worked as a lie detector, and got to be the butt end of some blind jokes. There were one or two fight scenes she shined in, but those were completed outdone by Katara in the catacombs and the fact that most of Toph's really impressive stuff, Aang was doing right alongside her.
BAMP FOR GREAT JUSTICE AND MORE AWESOME INSIDER INFO!/CRUISE CONTROL
You know, I like how everyone was so enraptured in this that they completely forgot to tape the Extras versions of episodes 3 and 4 last friday.
>>59485I watched it though...the one thing that stuck with me the most? The popup claiming that Koko was named after "Avatar Kyoshi's daughter"...And here I was hoping she was gay for Yang Chen.
>>59496Kyoshi Warriors reproduce asexually. That's why, except for Suki, they all looked alike in their first appearance.
>>59496>gay for Yang ChenThey call that masturbation. And I refuse to believe Kyoshi would name her daughter something so dorky. I can't even imagine her saying it.
>>59496I like the idea.>>59497OMG, they are amebas
>>59496Biiiiseeexuals!
>>59497I have always thought this.Well, either that are all the original Kyoshi warriors were actually Ty-Lee's sisters and...that just makes her story extra tragic.
>>58587I checked out that channel but I couldn't find any recordings. Are they there?
Is there no more series info available? Did our friendly insider Anon get busted?
>>61255He's being mindwiped under Lake Laogai as we speak.
>>61292D:
>>59226In the library episode Aang shows a scroll to katara with an illustration of the Lion-turtle thing. That's as close as we got to foreshadowing.
>>66408I've seen that episode about three times (two of those viewings I was keeping an eye out for the scroll), and I still don't see it.So, when abouts is it?
>>66409Right after they trick the owl guy. When they're all just sitting around looking at stuff. It seriously takes up the whole screen, and Aang says something to the effect of "Katara, look at these weird Lion-Turtle things."
>>66408Lion turtles are also mentioned in "Sokka's Master." Piandao tells Sokka he has "the heart of a lion turtle." He also has statues of them throughout the grounds of his palace, and you can clearly see them while Sokka trains with him and Fat.
>>66436>>66410To be fair, half of the Lion-Turtle stuff can be considered as throwaway as this stuff is:http://aminorglitch.org/look/enzoseye.html
Here's the shot of it from the library episode.
The existence of things called Lion Turtles doesn't come out of nowhere. The idea that they're powerful, intelligent creatures who are basically minor gods, kind of does.I say this as someone who thought the Lion Turtle was pretty neat.
>>59158
>>66456GAMERA IS MADE OF MEAT. HE HAS GIANT ROCKET FEET.
Saving this thread from death.
>>72812And again.
>>72812>>76418Why?
>>76419Because of the posts from the universe bible that are later in the thread, which I linked a page on TV Tropes to and don't want to be lost.
I never got some people's need for Aang to kill Ozai. It'd have let Aang into a life of regret for killing his new friend's dad, amirite?>>66469>>The existence of things called Lion Turtles doesn't come out of nowhere. The idea that they're powerful, intelligent creatures who are basically minor gods, kind of does. Why not? It's a world were a ten-thousand-knowing giant owl lives in a subterranean tower. That came out of nowhere too.>>I say this as someone who thought the Lion Turtle was pretty neat.I liked it too. It made a lot more sense than "Aang betrays all he believes in and goes all DBZ on Ozai."
>I say this as someone who thought the Lion Turtle was pretty neat.Well, he IS filled with turtle meat.
>goes all DBZ on OzaiHe spares him and later allies with him begrudgingly when a greater threat appears?
>>76656I think we are talking about Freeza and Cell bad types, here.
>>76656I admit that the fanchild in me wants to see that, but I can't think of any way that it wouldn't be ridiculously contrived.
>>76656A new villain named Zutara, who has the power to drive people mad by projecting his maddening delusions upon everyone he meets.
This thread entertained me enormously, so I am bumping it.BUMP
>>76672That kinda sounds like Sasuke...
