Is it true Robin isn't as tanned as she used to be pre-timeskip? I don't watch the anime.

In the anime, Robin has been getting more and more pale for a while now.

In the manga, Robin is and has always been Skin Tone Marker #1 (Skin Tone Marker #2 and above are random primary colors).

They've all been getting gradually more pale. After timeskip they're all unrecognizably pale. Remember sexy chocolaty Zoro at the start? That's gone.

Though, from a story point of view, these changes do make sense. He spent two years on an island with no sun. And Robin was last seen traveling through a snowy country, as opposed to the desert we met her on. Still, it'd be nice if this didn't fall into the usual everyone-looks-the-same animu trappings.

Manga colors are also very different. She's never really been as dark as the anime's made her out to be in the manga. Hell, she looks to be about the same skin tone as Crocodile and Mr. 1 on here, who are both considerably darker in the anime.

In Oda's eyes, everyone is the same skin color.

Well the thing is that little Moriah from the SBS and mid-twenties Moriah from Roger's execution had normal necks (and chins). None of the races really strike me as having horns and pale skin as a trait. Maybe his parents were just really abusive and into body modding.

He's fat, disproportionate and funny looking not because of what he is, but of what he's let himself become.
