Tony nuke ship, all bad guy fall down.
What was the deal with that?

Shockingly, I actually kind of got the first credit scene, even if I couldn't remember the name, just because people had speculated about Thanos being a part of this anyway.

Anyway this is the funniest action movie I've seen in a long time. I burst into tears at Galaga and Loki getting smashed around by the Hulk.

Loved the movie, the action was great, I felt the screen time was divided fairly, and I laughed a surprisingly lot through out the film.
The team dynamics were good, and I felt all members carried their weight.

The workaround the skrulls issue was well done, using a secondary name and hiding them in armour made sure they could use actual skrulls if they get the rights later.
They weren't much but a cannon fodder anyways.

A few nitpicks are: I found Cap's helmet to be really goofy, it gave his head a weird shape.
The 3d (which was the only version available at my cinema) was tucked on and at best didn't damage the film. I'm prone to migraines and during the last battle, where objects flew into and out of the screen all the time, well, I kinda wished I could remove the glasses and not see blurry shit.

I liked his acting, he brought an aspect of Banner who was overlooked until now, the guy who came to terms with his issues and grew cynic, calm, and dangerously quiet.
I think it's the best portrayal of the character so far, and for the record I liked both of the Hulk films.

That's a good parody though.

I'm usually okay with 3D films, but this one did a weird thing (maybe due to IMAX, only seen films on regular screens before): Turning my head sideways made the 3D effect go tits up, causing a big momentary headache.

So the Avengers has broken $1bn in ticket sales which is super exciting! For the most part, I'm looking forward to the Dark Knight Rises just to see how it stacks up against Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I don't want to make it a Marvel vs DC stupid thing, I just want to see what works better. Fingers crossed for the Avengers coming out on top, I like my super hero movies a little springier.

We all win anyway, since the success of The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises will prove to Hollywood that Superhero films are here to stay. And to be honest, I'm more curious about how the Amazing Spider-Man will perform--critically and commercially. I do want The Dark Knight Rises to win, though. That, or have Amazing Spider-Man win out of nowhere, just for the hell of it

Meh. I don't care who owns the rights to Spider-Man as long as we get a good movie about him, which ASM looks to fit the bill.

Tank or not, Sony in intent on keeping the web-head.

Which means they'll probably have to make a Wonder Woman movie as well.

Though in all honesty, the rumors had already pegged the rebooted Superman and post-Nolan Batman as leading up to a Justice League movie anyway.

WB is a whole different set up.

They will Phone it in.

You have to remember, these guys are the geniuses who wanted to make Smallville into the main movie universe for their characters until it's popularity tanked.

If we ever DO get a Justice League movie it will not be connected to any previous movie or a singular movie having the Justice League spun into it.

As of now, Whedon hasn't been signed to do a sequel to The Avengers. What's going to happen if Marvel replaces Whedon for The Avengers 2, like they did with the directors of Thor and Captain America. Heck, despite the first Iron Man film being a success and establishing Marvel Studios in the film business, it took Marvel a while to sign Jon Favreau for the sequel.

I prefer Nolenverse Batman, my crystal ball says no future Batman will be that good. FFS! NOLAN BATMAN DOES NOT NEED A REBOOT! It's good. Leave it at that. Seriously.

As for the Avengers, it's all coming together surprisingly good.

>According to multiple knowledgeable sources, Iron Man/Tony Stark is set for a highflying payday of about $50 million once box-office bonuses and backend compensation are factored in. (Two sources claim the number could go higher than $50 million once the ultimate box-office haul of Avengers is known, but another cautions that it could be years before the final number is known.) While on par with the upper echelon of franchise movie stars, that number blows away his superhero co-stars, all of whom will make a small fraction of Downey’s total, even as Avengers has a shot at topping the final Harry Potter film’s $1.32 billion global haul.

>Why the difference? When Marvel’s Iron Man grossed a surprising $585 million worldwide in 2008, Downey’s reps at CAA and the Hansen Jacobson law firm renegotiated a deal to include what multiple sources say is a slice of Marvel’s revenue from future movies in which he plays Iron Man (one source puts it in the 5 percent to 7 percent range; another source disputes the percentage. Marvel and Downey’s reps declined comment).

>As Marvel launched other hero pics that would lead up to Avengers, the studio struck hard bargains. Two sources say Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo all signed on for small upfront fees and ultimately will make about $2 million to $3 million on Avengers with bonuses. Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson, who signed deals to pop up in several Marvel movies, are said to be making about twice that for Avengers with bonuses.

HA! That is as great a move as Billy Dee Williams having to be bought out of his contract since he had it that he'd play Two Face (he'd been great IMO) or on the flip side of the coin Harrison Ford's bad deal with Star Wars.

Steve: I've seen the footage, the only thing you really fight for is yourself. You're not the guy to make the sacrifice play, to lay down the wire and let the other guy crawl over you.

Tony: I think I'd just cut the wire.

Steve: Right, Always a way out.

I wonder if Stark was the only one who did the reading. Because if Cap did and said that anyway that's a really big dick move given the events of the first Iron Man movie and Tony's previous experience with someone making "the sacrifice play". Too soon in either case, Steve.

Pic related.

Everything that happened there might not be part of the official record. I can see Cap being wrong or even just not thinking through his position, but I don't see him being outright callous.

>not part of official record
There is a good chance that S.H.I.E.L.D. records of Tony's Iron Man shenanigans only started well after Tony came back from captivity, in which case there would be no record of Yinsen helping Tony construct the first suit or his sacrifice to make sure that Tony got out alive.

Have the Asgardians always been explained as aliens people mistook as gods, or was this a way to get never-imply-anyone-else-is-a-god-but-the-Judeo-Christian-ones people not to get cranky?
>> No. 33145
>>33143
It's been both.

Kinda. The Asgardians are extra-dimensional beings trapped in a cycle of death and rebirth, and were at one point the things people worshipped as the Norse gods (back when Thor was a redhead and such). In some non-canon things (Earth X) they are explicitely stated as being aliens that feed off of human faith. But Earth X sucked pretty hard.

There's rumors of a Black Widow origin story movie (which I would watch the FUCK out of) and if that's the case, you can bet Hawkeye will show up in a much larger capacity there. So basically if it's done right, a Black Widow movie would instantly become my favorite in the MCU because the two badass normals just rocked the shit out of the Avengers.

I'm not sure where you got that impression. You mean because of how fond we are of the DCAU? I think it's pretty widely accepted that DC's animated output is better than Marvel's. But we're pretty fond of Marvel's theatrical output here.

As for comics....both companies are 99% terrible with a handful of series as saving graces at any given moment. Probably about the same number of saving graces, though that varies from year to year.
