It's like he went back this chapter and read the pre-time skip series and was like "hey, this is pretty good, I should write more of this."

As someone who checked in out of curiosity, I can't tell what the fuck is going on in this. The action is very... muddy.

Wait, Tsunade is now stronger than Raikage? WTF? When did this happen??

Oh, and I love how she is so sure that her jutsu is exclusive to her. Kind of like how the Rinnegan was exclusive to the Sage, Sharingan to Uchihas, Shadow Clone to Naruto, Mangekyo to Itachi...

I bet Shizune and Sakura can both do it. I'll bet Sakura can do it even better, 'cause... well, that's just how this manga works.
>> No. 72596
You know, when Madara says Tsunade is stronger then the Raikage, I'm pretty sure he's talking about physical strength. And if you're surprised about Tsunade punchan hard, well, what manga have you been reading?
>> No. 72598
>>72596

That might be an okay explanation, but the Raikage's whole deal is super-strength and super-speed. Tsunade's is super-strength and healing. You would think raw momentum and inertia from his larger bulk would contribute to the Raikage having an edge over Tsunade's particular brand of power.

If it was Tsunade capable of putting more sustained force into pushing him back or slowly cracking it, that would be one thing. It'd be different from the raw burst the Raikage puts out. If he was saying that her chakra combined with her strength was cracking it, that would be another since I assume her powers are different from his Lighning aura.

But all we have is "this is moving slower and has less mass but it hits harder," and it's presented as a casual observation so frankly that's...kinda bonkers.

Tsunade = Paladin
Raikage = Rogue

>"this is moving slower and has less mass but it hits harder,"

That's because of how Tsunade's strength technique works. It doesn't rely on musculature or how fast you fist is moving. Instead, the user gathers chakra in the relevant limb and releases it with "pinpoint precision". The power output you get is dependent on your chakra control. All we really learned is that Tsunade's chakra control is good enough to overcome the advantages in mass and speed the Raikage has.

I'm still kinda surprised people are surpised by this. I mean yeah, A is a pretty strong dude. But he's not the be all end all of strength. Bee bested his strongest lariat in his friggin base form. No Hachibi chakra required. Besides, Tsunade swong around Bunta's sword like it was nothing. The only strength feats we've seen that can rival that have come from sage mode users.

>>72598
I agree. Tsunade's whole schtick is that she is a medical ninja that is not just a squishy white mage. However when compared to the Raikage, an individual who is both a walking tank and a speedy combatant, we have to realize that moving fast while delivering an earth shattering punch >>>> moving slow while delivering an earth shattering punch.
An I the only one here thinking that Kishimoto is just trying to make Tsunade look badass after having her be useless the last fight?

Tsunade's strength has nothing to do with the physical. Its due entrely to Chakra control. Its a fantasy world full of people with magic and superpowers, trying to apply real world physics to this hit is kind of dumb. Remeber how Zabuza walked around carrying a sword that would have weighed roughly half a ton, and waved it arund one handed no less... Yeah.

The other explanations regarding releasing Chakra at the right time work out, but saying "she's just magic!" doesn't because so is the Raikage. He uses chakra to move and strike with the speed and punch of lightning, it's not like he's just Uber-powerful.

I... I don't see why there should be any confusion? Yeah, A's strong. Tsunade is just way stronger. There's never been anything in the manga that would make us think A is as strong as the utterly insane strength Tsunade has shown. A's technique lets him GOES FAST, which results in him hitting pretty hard, but Tsunade's technique is completely FOCUSED on hitting really fucking hard.

I gotta admit, It's always fun to watch Tsunade punch people. I don't think she's even close to being out of the game as her other big technique is regeneration

You need to remember that ninja arts are broken up into 3 large categories.
1) Ninjutsu - chakra based special arts
2) Taijutsu - physical (though not chakra-less) based special arts
3) Genjutsu - mental based arts

Tsunade's punching ability is a purely physical act meaning that it is a taijutsu based skill. It can be reinforced and augmented with chakra but that does not override the physical aspect of the technique.

Look at Rock Lee, in his fight with Gaara. Initially he is unable to punch through the sand barriers using basic taijutsu. This requires him to unlock more of his own bodies potential with the chakra gates. Same punches with more momentum = more powerful blows.

In this same way Tsunade and the raikage may be equal in strength on a physical level, but combined with his ability to deliver the same punches with greater momentum the Raikage clearly outclasses Tsunade in raw physical damage.
>> No. 72615
>>72614

But there is nothing that says Tsunade and the Raikage ARE equal in strength on a physical level. At least, nothing I remember seeing.

Nope, its a medical technique that enhances strength. Chakra based. Tsunade punches harder then the Raikage. Deal with it.

Seriously? That's the Urna Technique, a specialized version of her Yin seal. It allows her to tap into a reserve of chakra she has stored within the yin seal to facilitate the continual regeneration of her bodies cells. Keep in mind that the Tsunade is like 50 years old. She doesn't normally look that young, so in order to maintain her youthful look and strength she uses the transformation technique on a continual basis. It causes a drain on her chakra reserves so the Yin seal allows her to replenish it and continue fighting.

What she basically did was pop in new batteries.
>> No. 72619
>>72615
I didn't mean that they were literally the same strength. Just that if they were on equal physical levels, the Raikage would still hit harder due to his momentum. Sorry for the mix up.
>> No. 72620
I think I figured it out. What Tsunade is doing is either: 1) Using chakra to force her body to hit harder than normally (similar to Lee/Gai when opening a Gate or seven). or 2) Using a burst of chakra out of the end of her fist, like a much less gentle version of Gentle Fist, or akin to strapping a stick of dynamite to a hammer and whacking something with it.

Either way, her body would be highly damaged by these actions, which explain why she can't do it normally. Now that she's activated Wolverine no Jutsu, however, she can regenerate from anything instantly, and so can tear her muscles to shreds or make her fists into bombs with no risk of death or incapacitation.

Frankly, her strength at this point would be in a completely new league compared to before, and would enable her to hit harder than anyone else — regardless of her base strength beforehand — courtesy of transcending human natural limits, including the limits Raikage has. I'm just wondering what the drawback is going to be...
>> No. 72621

Well we know she reverts to her naturally aged appearance after she uses this technique, maybe in addition to not being pretty for awhile it puts stress on her system, but then again lots of people have techniques that do that they shrug off fairly easily.
>> No. 72624
>>72621
Yeah, if memory serves correct the first time she was shown using the Urna technique against Orochimaru, after the fight was over she was out of commission for a little. She still used her transformation technique to look young, but her body was a wreck.

I'm kinda wondering. Consider the zombies are... well, dead and all, where are they getting the chakra to use jutsu?? They have no solid physical form, so thus no physical energy; and I don't think it's legal for a dead person to have spiritual energy. Even if they DID, a lack of physical energy would make chakra creation impossible.

Considering it's probably just... floating in from nowhere, then, does that mean that Madara has an infinite supply of chakra?

Because... you know, way back in the day, running out of chakra was really a kinda important thing. I'm getting the feeling that was totally thrown out the window.
