So...how exactly does Kaito's "Like Hell I'm gonna die" ability factor into all this? I don't think it is responsible for Kaito remembering who he was before being killed. We've already seen that all of the human based hybrids retained varying amounts of their memories from before their transformation. And if it was related to his "number slot" ability he would have had to disengage his club (slot 4 I think) before getting a chance to use that one. I was under the impression that Pitou killed him rather quickly.

Can we have a Sket Dance thread please.
I started reading it after I came across the anime and I've fallen in love with it.

How does everyone else feel about it? Heck is it even well liked/read amongst the posters here?

Yeah, if there was anyone who needed a ninja star to the face, it was that guy.

Also, I snrked at Katou's sudden fealty. Tsubaki gets his very own ninja; not too shabby, pres.

I can't help but think that if that was a big climactic page (say, from the final story arc even) in a manga that normally has beautiful, page-filling art like Berzerk or One Piece, it would actually be really impressive in a jarring kind of way.
>> No. 72180

It's quite possible, although a full page probably wouldn't be necessary.
>> No. 72181

Yeah, the single phrase on a blank page can have a shitload of impact if done well. However, when you pace like Kubo, it just ends up looking supremely lazy.

I know WSJ mangaka get paid by the page. I wonder how much it cost them.

I actually did not feel the same way about the Marineford War, because Oda is really good at making me care about characters in a really short period of time, and because all of the notable Marines were established characters and the new Whitebeard guys all had a shared and clear goal in common.

Kishimoto's war is a mess by contrast.

Y'know, the slowness of the updates doesn't really bother me anymore.

Most mangakas get so much work done because they're basically forced to do nothing else. I'm happy Miura can actually take a break and enjoy doing his work at his own pace.

So...there's gonna be some movie where all the riders and sentai heroes are in charge of the evil organisation of thier universe and fight each other instead of being bro's, and Decade is the face of Kamen Rider again?

Listen it's just like the den-o/ooo all riders movie

just ignore whatever they decide to call the "plot" and watch dudes punch and kick other dudes all the time forever as a man with a nice voice announces the names of the riders and sentai teams and you try to ignore whatever wishes you have to cause decade physical harm and hope that the kuuga they use is godai and not onodera

and then write a three page post on why decade is bad

like me!

IIRC the claim that held the most water was that some clothing/hair designs in one scene were lifted from Emma, but even then that's a shaky foundation because a. it's entirely possible they just both used the same references for Victorian dress and b. if she did reference Emma, she did it without tracing, which is generally more acceptable.

Unless you're talking about another case?

Sup /jam/?

I was a rabid anime fan as a young teenager, biting down anything I could find. I grew apart from it eventually and nowadays One Piece is the only show I follow.

However, I was getting nostalgic and I figured out I have huge gaping holes I never filled out when it comes to the good must see shit.
So my first move was to get all of Cowboy Bebop, and I'm looking for more shows (and movies!) that are generally considered great, mostly from 90's-00's but I can deal with older stuff, or even newer.

Shit I watched and loved:
FMA
FLCL
Anything by Miyazaki
Memories

And I can't really remember more right now but there were more.

Which was great, by the way, in ways that you would never expect from seeing the commercials for it or reading about the premise. Because when you see the commercials or read the premise, it comes off like Eureka Seven is just trying way too hard to be cool--sky surfing giant robots on an alien world? Copious references to the music and the Beastie Boys? Sounds so bleeeeeeeh when you put it like that.

But then you watch it and it's like all this stuff--it's not here because they thought people would think it was cool, it's there because the people making it really seemed to love that sort of stuff. And anything that gets made as a labor of love has a chance to be great.

I still recommend Vision of Escaflowne. While the art style is a little off-putting, I think the story is fantastic. It's a bit more shoujo than shounen, but still a fairly rounded Anime that is good for any new-comer (and vets)

Just two weeks until the one hour premiere! With the inevitable tragedy of Emiya Kiritsugu and the 4th Holy Grail War just around the bend (along with all the inevitable fighting GIFs and wallpapers, if the Kara no Kyoukai movies are any indication on UFOtable's part), it's high time for a dedicated thread I think.

Those of you curious about Fate Zero should go play the original Fate Stay Night, since Fate Zero assumes you've played all three routes and spoils the shit out of them, especially Heaven's Feel. For those of us who already know all this shit, Extras is scanning the manga, so here's the first chapter of that.

The ZnT novels actually have a lot of cool shit that the anime just skips over because JC Staff are the only big studio that's worse than DEEN. In the novels, the war between Gallia and the rest of Halk last a long fucking time and features things like pitched naval battles, diplomatic intrigue, and revealing the fact that Romalia actually is sitting on a huge stash of Earth weaponry that they either find from random portals or covertly steal from the main portal in the Elven territories. Among these is a tiger tank, which they give to Saito so he can fight against 15 of the Jörmungandr golems, because aside of Void magic the only thing that can punch through their Counter enchantments is WW2 era cannons or higher. The anime features only the very last battle of the war and changes even that significantly. They don't even explain WHY Joeseph does what he does (which isn't an amazing motivation, but still).

Then of course there's all the crazy shit the Elves can do, which we MIGHT actually see some of in the rest of F but I'm not holding my breath on that.

Don't take any of this as a suggestion to actually read the novels though, as neat as the setting and some of the war stuff can be, it's still buried under tsundereshit and haremshit.
