So your take on this is that if its done for fun and satire, "The writers didn't cover this so it kind of fits to think Celestis is just messing with them!" then it's ok and not overanalizing; but if it's done for "seriousness and trying to put the dots togheter", "Dash is just too blunt and Applejack too loyal, they must have switched her elements of harmony by mistake, that makes more sense!" then it's not ok and overanalizing?
Well, I see where you are coming from. You don't like people that treat the show more serious than it is and try to create theories that explain it in the most comprehensive and serious way posible, like it's really meant to be free of continuity errors, (like for example, Fluttershy acts very rude in a new episode for a gag and these guys go all "No, no, this has to have a good reason behind it, here if we examine FS's character growth throughout the season, it totally explains why she acted like that!") while being a cunt to other fans when they mention funny theories like trollestia because "they don't fit with the spirit of the show at all".
But you also don't see the fact that a good number of people do a lot of this world building and mythology and explanation for the pony's behavior, for the same reason others come up with the crazy fan theories, for fun!
Because building this super complex, reasonable, with internal logic, really long explanation of the pony universe is really funny because obviously it's not meant to be there in the first place since it's a comedy show with very little continuity, outside the small details like shgowing Dash still reading.
Yes, there are people who do this in a serious non-funny way and honestly think this show is super well thought out, really complex and think Faust is the best cartoon maker in the whole world and her work is gonna change the industry like we've never seen before.
But like you said, those people are also likely to be amazed and awed by the morals at the end of an episode and feel really inspired to model their lives in the shape of these groundbreaking ethical guidelines, and that's just one step away from mindlessly chanting "Love and Tolerance".
Be aware that not all of the people that "overanalize" the show by creating huge origin mythos for it, and pinpoint the psicological flaws of the characters do it because they seriously believe they explain the show, but instead do it for the very same pursuit of fun you do.
The key to know when a fan is doing it for the fun or not, is watch how they react when a new episode completely shatters any certain fan theory even if it's for comedic effect, if they go all buttmad about it because it breaks the great continuity and makes little sense, they really were unfunny guys; but if they don't sweat a drop and instead find a new funny theory that "explains" the loopholes then you have a winner.
