I dunno if this is a totally necessary thread but I find that I keep going to the SYM thread in /baw/ to talk about petty food things that don't deserve a thread.

So I'm making this instead.

I have way too much fun seeing just how delicious of a pizza I can make using those pre-packaged pre-cooked crusts.
The answer is an incredibly delicious pizza.

Pic unrelated, but it was the first thing I saw when I opened my pictures folder.

A thread for dishes that went far better than expected.

The other day, after realizing how great rice and beef mix in stuffed bell-peppers, I cooked rice, then stirred in beaten eggs, and began stirring rapidly until the egg was cooked. Pic related.

Back on topic, I ate goat for the first time while I was in Malaysia. Goat curry, to be more precise. It was rather delicious.

Long version: I went out to tea with Mrs Shrike's dad to a nasi kandar somewhere in KL chinatown (don't ask where, my brain is still trying to make sense of KL roads). He ordered roti telur and a goat curry, I ordered nasi goreng ayam, thinking I'd be getting some delicious, spicy chicken rice. Basically the nasi goreng ayam I'm used to in Melbourne, but better. What happened next requires a little elaboration…

In Australia, once a town become large enough to warrant restaurants, it will rapidly acquire a Chinese restaurant. Whether it's good or bad, serving Cantonese cuisene or Sichuan, it will have a sign that says "CHINESE RESTAURANT." And it will always serve a dish called "Special Fried Rice." In the better of these restaurants, Special Fried Rice will consist of yesterdays (or earlier todays) rice, stir fried with some roast pork or Chinese sausage, egg, and fresh green vegetables. In the worst, it will be freshly steamed rice, barely fried in a pan with ham, peas, chunks of carrot the size of small continents, and bits of corn. And it will taste exactly like steamed rice with ham, peas, chunks of carrot and corn.

This, as it turns out, is what I had ordered at the nasi kandar, with the exception that instead of ham, I had what appeared to be a leg of crumbed (breaded) chicken, and not a particularly meaty or well-seasoned one, that had been mutilated with a meat cleaver and chucked into the wok.

Needless to say, I was a little disappointed. So Mrs Shrike's Dad shared his goat curry with me, which tasted awesome, and in which I could identify the remains of things like curry leaves and fenugreek seeds.

So yeah. Goat. It beats shitty fried rice hands down.

The made the entire dish just taste of fish and ocean

An entire bottle? I'm honestly surprised you're still alive, especially if you don't drink often.

Also I really like rye, although it takes some getting used to and there aren't that many good ryes out there.

Highest bottled abv I've ever had was ~40%. Highest abv in a drink probably about the same, although if you count party drinks it's probably ~60%.

Motherfuckers, I just spent 9 dollars on a 200 mL bottle of vinegar. Jalapeno White Balsamic Vinegar. This shit is so delicious I'm pouring it into shot glasses and sipping it. I've put it on everything I've eaten in the past two days, omelettes, waffles, tater tots, even my goddamn morning vitamins. My only regret is not buying the 750 mL bottle so I could pour myself a glass before bed at night, and a shot in the morning to put hair on my dick.

http://www.davolios.com/

Motherfuckers, this bottle of vinegar came with a built in wine stopper. It had a tear off seal at the top made of embossed foil. This shit is so fancy it fucked the Queen and called her the next day. It is right proper and belongs in everyone's kitchen and bedside table.

ITT: DELICIOUS EXUBERANCE

I didn't keep it open, I just kept it closed.

It's pretty much what you'd expect. A bottle of vinegar flavoured with hot peppers. The smell of it is enough to make my mouth water. It's definitely got a bit of a kick to it.

It worked really well when I was making some tenderloin a while ago. I put some of it (along with other things) into a tinfoil envelope with the tenderloin and put the tenderloin rack into the oven. The tenderloin stayed really moist and acquired a nice flavour.

It's not at the point where I drink shots of it though.

I've saved the url to this thread, so I'll see any replies you post. eventually.

Cool cool cool. I might need to get around to actually doing this sometime soon.

I picked up some more vinegar from this place too. Raspberry. It's a really dark vinegar and it's good on meats.
>> No. 5537
Used the raspberry vinegar on some hamburger meat, along with some hunter's blend spice mix, and very minimal shredded cheese, on top of an onion/cheese bagel.

Holy shit it was amazing.

Completely lock all doors when handling yeast. Just a tiny bit of draft can completely ruin the dough.
>> No. 5508
>>5507 is right; having the right temperature in the room when you're feeding the yeast is just as important as the temperature of the water.

Do you have a bread machine, or are you doing everything by hand? I ask because over-/under-kneading is a common problem with people who do it by hand (and as somebody who has always made her bread by hand, I can safely say that my first half-dozen loaves or so were not anywhere near as good as the ones I make now).

Also, I gotta know; what was this "amazing bread" you've had that you want to emulate?
>> No. 5515
Sorry guys, I thought this board moved slower.

I'm doing everything by hand so I guess I better keep practicing. Still, the generic recipes don't mention stuff like that.

As for the AMAZING BREAD, a friend of a friend came over and made it for a party we were having. It was fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside, fresh out of the oven. But, I'm no bread connoisseur, I'm just saying I liked it a lot and can't go back to store-bought stuff.

Depends really. When I've had a lot of meat my semen tastes kinda bitter, when I've been eating lots of fruits it tastes kinda sweet. Really depends on your diet and genetics rather than any set base taste.
