Dude, it was a metaphor for growing up and becoming disillusioned to the fantasies of childhood. You used to be this amazing unstoppable force who was gonna take the world by storm, but really you end up in a unglamorous but dependable job just trying to make ends meet and going to bed with someone you don't love anymore. The big challenge is coming to terms with your position in life and trying to improve it in ways that are within your grasp, like getting out of a toxic relationship and making sure your daughter grows up happy.

As for the blue fire in the Zuko portrait... I think it's indicative of the "balance" that Zuko finds within himself. The ribbon with the colors of the four nations obviously represents the balance Zuko brought to the world, but the blue and red fire represents the balance between his sense and sensibility respectively.

That's just a guess. I wouldn't mind it if the reason for the blue fire was due out of respect to his sister simply out of love or in the artist's own headcanon that Azula would come around to help Zuko along.

I don't see why the fire would be blue though; I'm kinda thinking it should be more rainbow-hued, representing the lesson he learnt from the dragons and the Sun Warriors. That seems more balance-y than having blue and red flames.

Its style feels just about right for the "1920s" thing they've got going, with just about everything precisely mapped out (with those lovely crinkly coastlines... dem fjords), with the barest fleeting hints of Terra Incognita around the poles.
